Thomas Rhett has a brand-new fishing story this summer that's no tall tale. Instead of reeling in a record-setting catch, he snagged himself.
"The day started great! Then I hooked myself in the back of the leg," Rhett wrote on social media. "Had to push it out the other side, cut the barb off then pull it back through!"
Ouch! But as usual, Rhett's got a sense of humor about life's ups and downs.
Based on a series of photos shared on Instagram, Rhett's fishing trip in Colorado includes his wife Lauren Akins plus Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard and his wife Hayley Hubbard. Both country music stars are off the road this summer thanks to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
Just because he's not on stage sharing "Be a Light" with the masses doesn't mean that Rhett's social media game has suffered. Like his FGL fishing buddy and such peers as Carrie Underwood, Rhett's home life is entertaining enough, especially when his daughters Ada James, Willa Gray and Lennon Love show up in pics.
Per a later Instagram post, the girls came along for the trip from Nashville to Colorado, so we might just witness their first catches in the coming days.

In preparation for the 2015 ACM Awards, Rhett released a video montage that shows how he won his wife's hand in marriage by courting her over the course of several years. The video has a not-so-subtle message: stay true to your dreams and to appreciate the steps it takes to achieve them.
