Thomas Rhett Scores His 10th No. 1 Single With 'Marry Me'

With his first No. 1 single "It Goes Like This" in 2013, Thomas Rhett began a career full of chart-topping hits. Now, with "Marry Me," he achieved his 10th No. 1 song as the track floated to the top of the Billboard's Country Airplay chart.

Co-written by Jesse Frasure, Ashley Gorley and Shane McAnally, the song lyrically takes listeners through the painful realization that the singer might soon watch the love of his life marry another man.

"I'll try to make it through without crying so nobody sees/Yeah, she wanna get married/But she don't wanna marry me," Rhett sings in the chorus. He revealed that the song bares his own anxieties.

"'Marry Me' is one of my favorite tracks on the record,"Rhett told  Nash Country Daily. "It's my big 'what if' song. I wrote it from the perspective of if I had never told my wife how I felt about her all those years ago. I probably would have been sitting at her wedding watching her marry someone else. Heartbreaking thought—and thankfully I did tell her how I felt—but it makes for a great song concept that so many people can relate to."

Rhett's career has been steadily rising for the past few years. His breakout, career-changing song "Die a Happy Man" catapulted the singer to superstardom in 2015. His 2017 album Life Changes hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200, a rarity for a country artist.

As great as Rhett's career is going, his personal life is even better. Rhett and his wife Lauren adopted their daughter Willa Gray and celebrated the birth of their second daughter Ada James last year.

"Marry Me" is Rhett's third single off of his September 2017 LP, Life Changes.
