There was once a time where you could walk into the corner store and buy candy for just a penny. Take us back to the good ol' days where bulk candy could be bought with the nickel in your pocket. Penny candy made it convenient to buy candy for the entire family.

Unfortunately, candy isn't as cheap as it used to be, but some of your favorites from the candy store are available online. I don't know about you, but sweets hold so much sentimental value to me. From bubble gum, lollipops, jelly beans, and even ice cream.
1. Tootsie Frooties
Tootsie Frooties come in 11 different flavors. According to Tootise.com, they're one of the last American-made penny candies available.
2. Black Taffy
You might know these as Black Jack Taffy. Surely this retro candy started your licorice addiction.
3. BB Bats Taffy
Taffy suckers changed the game. Instead of popping one in your mouth, suckers allowed you to savor them much longer. You get to choose between vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, and banana taffies.
4. Dad's Root Beer Barrels
Making these root beer inspired candies in the shape of barrels is clever. Freshly brewed root beer was a popular soda choice in the 20th century. Of course, a root beer flavored candy was needed in the mix. Not much has changed. Look at us now, buying Dr Pepper flavored Bbq sauce.
5. Tootsie Rolls
When I think of penny candy, Tootsie rolls are exactly what comes to mind. Although you can't get pounds of these sweets for pennies, you can get 700 for under $15. In today's times, that's a win.
6. Turkish Taffy
Thanks to the golden age of television, kids all over the country knew what Turkish Taffy was.
7. Honeycombed Peanuts Candy
Atkinson got creative with their peanut candy. Why not make them look they peanuts? They taste like them! As someone who loves Butterfinger and Snickers, I think I would love this peanut butter candy.
8. Cubes Hard Candy

Giving up your pocket change for chocolate coins was definitely a thing back in the good ol' days!

Necco candy wafers have been around for a long time. If you haven't had the original wafer, I would compare them to Smarties. They come in eight different flavors. Some favorite flavors were lime, licorice, and wintergreen.
Penny candy stores aren't as prominent as they were in the 50s, but you can always count on Amazon to have a favorite candy from your childhood. (Some of these are hard to find at the grocery store in the United States.) Candy is one of the sweetest ways to reminisce over the days you long for.
Long ago, there was once a time where our parents, siblings, and childhood best friends were all within miles of us. You know what else was? A penny candy store.
