In the film's trailer, Adkins is briefly seen encouraging Finley's character to address the pain he feels when thinking about his father through music. Adkins' deep, gravely voice gives immediate depth to the character and weight to what he's suggesting. Though neither of them knows it at the time, the song he encourages the MercyMe singer to write eventually becomes one of the most popular Christian radio songs of all time.
MercyMe rerecorded "I Can Only Imagine" and released a new music video featuring clips of the film seen here. They also added a sweeping sound to the song, giving it a cinematic feel.
