It's been nearly 30 years since the smash-hit disaster action flick Twister stormed into theaters, sweeping up about $500 million at the box office with its dizzying whirl of revolutionary special effects. And given the current trend of seemingly endless Hollywood sequels and reboots, a Twister follow-up wasn't so much a question of "if" but "when." Twisters and its ominous plurality will touch down in the summer of 2024. And while details about the sequel remain sparse, we now have an official cast list -- and there are some seriously heavy hitters on board.

The 1996 original boasted an impressive ensemble cast, including Bill Paxton, Helen Hunt, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Cary Elwes. The plot revolved around two storm chasers/estranged spouses who put their lives on the line to evaluate a groundbreaking weather alert system. And Universal is going all out to ensure the reboot lives up to the wellspring classic. Minari director Lee Isaac Chung takes the helm and The Revenant screenwriter Mark L. Smith penned the project.
Universal is keeping its shelter doors battened down on Twisters and coughed up only the core actors who will appear in the film -- not much about the characters they'll play. But plenty of rumors are swirling, including one that suggests a surprise appearance from Hunt.
