Tyler Childers, a worthy opening act during Margo Price's May 2018 residency at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium and a hot ticket as a touring musician, gets his first chance to hold court at the Mother Church next February during his four-night "Country Squire Residency."

Childers' four dates, Feb. 6, 7, 15 and 16, mark his first headlining shows at the Ryman. Opening acts announced so far are Larry Cordle for Feb. 15 and Daughter of Swords for the following night.
The big news for Childers continues a recent trend of Ryman residencies, popularized by Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit's annual stay and furthered by Childers' peers Price and Brandi Carlile and such legends as Sheryl Crow and Ray Lamontagne.

Despite its historic importance, there's something pure about the Ryman experience that's lost in many of the large venues played by artists like Isbell and Childers.
"There's no rock-star (b.s.) at the Ryman," Isbell told Rolling Stone in 2018. "There's no barricade, there's no security between me and the people listening to me. And you look up from the stage and there's all these church windows and church pews and, even if you're not necessarily a religious person, you're thinking about the spirituality of the situation and how some people are in there having a real serious moment."
Tickets go on sale this Fri., Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. CT. If past residencies are any indication, tickets will go fast, potentially creating demand for extra dates. It's advisable to plan around the four advertised dates, just in case Childers doesn't follow Carlile's lead and double his number of appearances.
In the meantime, Childers rounds out 2019 on the road, promoting the Aug. 2 release of Country Squire through North American tour stops and festival appearances in Europe and the Dominican Republic.
