It seems like breakfast tacos and barbecue are sweeping the nation at a rapid pace and United Airlines knew what they had to do: add them to their in-flight menu. That's right, per a press release, the airline is debuting a new in-flight menu for select flights that includes all things Texan, in our eyes anyways. Egg and chicken chorizo tacos, barbecue chicken sandwich, and new craft beer styles were added to their Choice Menu. Here's what you need to know.

You can now find the egg and chicken chorizo breakfast tacos on the breakfast Choice Menu and the barbecue chicken sandwich on the lunch and dinner Choice Menu. Additionally, on United's premium transcontinental flights between Los Angeles and New York or Newark; between San Francisco and Boston; and San Francisco and New York or Newark, customers can now order Stella Artois on domestic and international flights. The airline is the first to offer this brand.
The egg and chicken chorizo tacos are a pride and joy of United for one simple reason: "the tacos were in development for more than a year." Inspired by street food trucks around the country (but mostly Texas, y'all), the authentic tasting breakfast taco was a winner with over 800 customers and flight attendants during in-flight taste tests. The order comes with two egg and chicken chorizo tacos featuring scrambled eggs, chicken chorizo, Monterey Jack and Swiss American cheese, charred chipotle salsa and chives, and is served on corn and flour tortillas.
The barbecue chicken option features pulled smoked chicken, barbecue sauce, cheddar jack cheese, and a dill pickle plank served on a focaccia roll. We're most excited about the dill pickle, honestly, but this sure beats a deli sandwich with sad ham and cheese.
That's not all United is adding, though. Apart from Stella Artois, the airline is introducing two new beers: the Lagunitas Sumpin' Easy Ale and the New Belgium Citradelic Tangerine IPA. For cocktails, the airline is offering a new signature cocktail: the Old Fashioned. Made with whiskey and bitters, and served up with the classic orange rind garnish, the drink is complimentary for United Economy Plus and available for purchase in domestic Economy.
Did you know that United Airlines operates about 4,600 flights each day to 354 airports in five continents? I had no idea, but it's enough to make me want to try the new menu items. After all, barbecue sandwiches in the air? Sign me up. Did United just flip airline food on its head with these exciting street food flavors? We can only wonder other competitors are dreaming up. Maybe one will use only chorizo, instead of chicken with chorizo flavor.
