Not all fictional TV towns are created equal, and Netflix's Virgin River proves that time and again. In the just-wrapped Season 5, Part 1 finale, the quaint northern California town is rocked by catastrophic wildfires, maybe the most devastating loss in the show's history, and, of course, big paternity questions. (If baby daddy drama wasn't on your bingo card this season, are you even a fan of the show?) So far, Virgin River Season 5 is a cross between Fire Country and Maury — and we're just getting started. Season 5, Part 2 will consist of two holiday episodes, premiering Nov. 30 on Netflix.

But before we put up the tinsel for Virgin River Christmas, let's touch base on where Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge), Jack (Martin Henderson) and the rest of the not-so-happy campers left off in Part 1. We've compiled all the biggest tragedies, tiffs and trysts Episodes 1-10 had to offer and put on our thinking caps to predict where it's all headed in Part 2 and beyond.
Warning: Spoilers ahead for Virgin River Season 5, Part 1.
Mel and Jack Lose the Baby
Mel's (Breckenridge) miscarriage is the most devastating moment in Virgin River history, and that's saying a lot. After nearly giving up on motherhood, Mel resolves to try again someday — whether through adoption or surrogacy. In happier news, Mel and Jack (Henderson) lay down roots in Virgin River. They decide to buy Lilly's farm and build their dream home on it. It'll be the ideal place to raise a family and, Jack says, get married.
Part 2 Prediction: Please tell me the upcoming Christmas episodes will include a winter wonderland wedding for Jack and Mel.
Calvin Is the Father of Charmaine's Twins
Just when you think Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley, Orphan Black) can't go any lower... Turns out she cheated on Jack with local drug lord Calvin (David Cubitt, Medium), who's been presumed dead since Season 4. He sneaks up on her after the carnival in Episode 10 and makes his intentions scary clear: "I want to be a father to my boys."
Part 2 Prediction: Melissa (Barbara Pollard, Champions) tried to murder Calvin last season. Now that she's been hauled off to jail like a Scooby Doo villain, Calvin's free to reclaim his fentanyl empire. Charmaine will no doubt be dragged into it. (Never thought we'd feel sorry for the part-time witch, but there's a first time for everything.)
Mel's Birth Father May Be a Virgin River Native
Seriously, what is it with Virgin River and questions of paternity? Mel's sister Joey (Jenny Cooper, Open Heart) found love letters written to their late mother indicating she was having an affair. Joey thinks this mystery man from Virgin River is their biological father, but doesn't offer any proof.
Part 2 Prediction: Joey told Mel she's coming to Virgin River for Christmas, so she'll likely be in the holiday episodes. But where do they start their daddy search? Doc? He's already got a long-lost grandson. Nick? Can't see it. How about Lilly's husband, who died weeks before Mel arrived in Virgin River? She'll be living on his farm, and that would make baby Chloe her half-sister. Sounds poetic, right?
Lizzie and Denny Are (Maybe) Expecting
These teenage heartbreakers are putting up numbers in Season 5. Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale, Death of a Cheerleader) decides to stay in Virgin River as Hope's Chief of Staff, and Denny (Kai Bradbury, The Imperfects) doesn't let his Huntington's disease stop him from living a full life. He wants to get back on track for medical school and travel the world with Lizzie. The hitch? She thinks she may be pregnant.
Part 2 Prediction: If Lizzie's expecting, it's definitely Denny's child, right? She broke up with Ricky like two seasons ago, but you never can be sure with Virgin River, can you?
The Cops (Probably) Found Wes' Dead Body
Things were looking so good for Preacher (Colin Lawrence). His new love, awesome firefighter Kaia (Kandyse McClure, Battlestar Galactica), skipped a promotion in order to stay in Virgin River with him. Then, she got a call from her boss saying they found a body buried in the woods. It's probably Paige's abusive husband Wes, who took a fatal tumble down the stairs in Season 2. Preacher buried the body and ditched Wes' car in the forest.
Part 2 Prediction: Odds are we won't see Paige again this season. It's up to Preacher and Connie (Nicola Cavendish), the only other person who knows about Wes' death, to dodge the authorities.
Brie Moves On With Mike
Brie (Zibby Allen, Grey's Anatomy) has been in crisis, and Mike (Marco Grazzini, Kim's Convenience) was there for her every step of the way. He just happened to be at the Sacramento courthouse during her heroic testimony against her abusive ex-boyfriend Don, who was found guilty on all counts. And Mike comforted her and her mother during the wildfires. Sick of Brady's (Benjamin Hollingsworth) secrets, she officially breaks things off: "Brady, I will love you forever. But I need you to know that things have changed for me."
Part 2 Prediction: So Mike saved Brady's life and took down Melissa, ensuring Brie's safety. (For now. Remember, Calvin's back.) But it still bugs us that he seduced Brie while Brady was his C.I. Remember when Brady vaguely hinted that Mike was responsible for Lonergan's death in Afghanistan? Maybe now's the time Mike's dirty little secret saw the light of day.
Brady Moves On With Lark
Brady has pretty much been single mother Lark's (Elise Gatien, Supernatural) sworn protector since saving her 6-year-old daughter Hazel from the wildfire. "Maybe you should be with someone who appreciates you for who you are," she tells him. It's in the bag!
Part 2 Prediction: Things could get ugly for Brady for the umpteenth time: Calvin is back with a vengeance, and given Virgin River's preoccupation with dads, the mystery of Hazel's father could be a future plot point.
Cameron and Muriel Are An Item
Cameron (Mark Ghanimé, The Age of Adaline) and Muriel's (Teryl Rothery, The Good Doctor) romance came out of left field, but the pair are ridiculously compatible. Plus, they may just be the future of Virgin River. Cameron vowed to take over the clinic someday, and Muriel proved her mettle on the operating table. Is this our new dream duo? Lizzie and Denny better up their game.
Part 2 Prediction: With Muriel staying in Cameron's guest room while her house is being repaired, expect these lovebirds to ramp up their relationship pretty quickly.
Doc Starts Clinical Trials to Retain His Vision
Doc (Tim Matheson) is losing sight out of one eye, so he enters a new clinical trial to cure his macular degeneration. Problem is, there's a risk to undergoing the experimental treatment.
Part 2 Prediction: Sorry, but we should all be watching that bucket. Doc is the prime candidate for kicking it in the episodes to come — or later, in the already greenlit Season 6.
Hope Gets Her Mojo (and the Mayorship) Back
They tried and failed to take down our girl Hope McCrea (Annette O'Toole), whose quick-thinking heroics saved Virgin River from the wildfires. With Lizzie as her Chief of Staff, the newly-reinstated Mayor McCrea will bring Virgin River into the 21st century. Hope and Liz Mean Biz!
Part 2 Prediction: We've known since Season 1 that Hope is fabulously wealthy. It's time she spent those millions on something fun, like a redo wedding to Doc!
Virgin River Season 5, Part 2 premieres Nov. 30 on Netflix.
