Move Over KFC, Chick-fil-A is Testing Family Style Meals in Select States

Watch out KFC, Chick-fil-A is moving in on the family style meal market! They're starting very small, with the new menu rolling out in select cities and states only, but it may very well turn into a nationwide launch if successful. The goal? An all-in-one bundle that makes eating lunch or dinner a whole lot more convenient, whether you're sitting down for a family dinner, working with a study group, or celebrating New Years Day.

KFC has long offered the bucket meals, promising a home-cooked meal that you don't have to cook yourself. The KFC version feeds 4+, 6+, and 8+ with meal plans that are targeted for occasions small and large. Chick-fil-A's new family style meal plans certainly seem to capitalize on the success of KFC and other fast-food chains' attempts to feed a group.

Starting at $27.49, Chick-fil-A's new meal plan includes an entree, two sides, and eight rolls (to serve four). Entree options include 30 chicken nuggets, 12 chicken strips, or four chicken breasts (your choice of grilled or fried). Side options sound very KFC-like in nature: mac and cheese, bacon baked beans, fruit bowl, salads, or "superfood sides" that combine kale and broccolini with dried cherries and nuts.

The meals are designed to feed four, but you can add-on entrees, sides, cookies, or other menu items if your group is larger. Also included in the meal packaging is "conversation starters" to give families a way to connect over dinner.

Earlier this year, Chick-fil-A tested limited meals and sides in Grensboro, North Carolina, Phoenix, Arizona, and San Antonio, Texas. They have now rolled out the program in in 22 Nashville area Chick-fil-A restaurants. The Nashville launch started on November 13 and will run through January. If the program is a success, we can hope to see it pop up in more cities.

So what do you think, would you order a family style meal from Chick-fil-A to feed your group?
