Weight-Watchers, the 50-year-old fitness and weight loss program is getting a facelift- including a whole list of 200 zero-point foods you can enjoy without worrying about how it affects your points for the day. The point-system implemented by Weight Watchers International uses Weight Watchers points assigned to common foods to create an individual points plan for each member.

Up until now, each food choice (including healthy foods like salmon and kale) had their own point value. However, the new WW Freestyle program allows members to eat 200 food items without counting them towards their daily points.
Gary Foster, Weight Watchers' chief scientific officer and an adjunct professor at University of Pennsylvania's medical school states that these 200 foods were chosen because, "These foods form the basis of a healthy eating pattern." He also goes on to say, "Do we really care if people are eating 4 ounces of salmon vs 6 ounces of salmon? No."
How the New Weight Watchers Point System Works
The new program places the focus on eating healthy foods such as lean protein and gaining better eating habits.
"Very few people come to Weight Watchers because they've had a problem overdoing it on salmon, legumes, beans, and chicken," Foster stated. "Someone might think 'OK I'm eating salmon, no sweat on that. If I'm eating chocolate cake, I know I still have to measure that.'"

Compared to the old program, Zero Points Food makes eating even easier than before. No need to measure or weigh out your servings of food like eggs, chicken breast, and seafood.
In fact, 93 percent of Weight Watchers program participants agree that the new program helps them feel healthier and 3 of 4 WW members stated the new program helped in weight loss goals.
Members of the Weight Watchers diet have the choice to follow an app, attend meetings and take advantage of a personal trainer to reach their goal weight.
