A Whataburger Wedding is a Thing of Joy

Part of the fun of a wedding is getting to honor the things that are important to you as individuals and as couple. Maybe it's the place where you had your first date, or the Friday tradition of catching up with each other over burgers. Maybe it's the one thing that kept you going during an illness. Maybe it's a symbol of your home state, something you've loved since you were a kid, or something you love because your beloved is such a fan.

And if you're from Texas, it's no surprise that a Whataburger wedding could represent all those things. Texans love their Whataburger and they love to honor the orange and white when they tie the knot.

And really, there's nothing better than a big lovefest that includes burgers and Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits. Whataburger profiled some of their fans and their Whataburger wedding stories and I dare you to read them without smiling.

For Franchesca and Ben Foley, it was a surprise "Whatawedding" cake during their rehearsal dinner. She's from Texas, he wasn't; if he hadn't fallen as hard for the chain as he did for Franchesca, that might have been a dealbreaker. The couple hosted their rehearsal dinner at a Whataburger restaurant, where the Family Members decorated their tables and treated them to the surprise cake.

High school sweethearts Hannah and Mitchell had an all-American wedding on the 4th of July, but realized at the end of their reception that they never got the chance to eat except for a bite of cake. It was 11 p.m. and they knew exactly what to do.

"It might have been an American wedding because of the day, but I was a Texas bride when I showed up to Whataburger in my wedding dress," Hannah says. "Everybody was giggling at us, but I really just wanted a cheeseburger."

When Jessica Block and Adrian Valdez got married, they knew they had to incorporate Whataburger into their ceremony. Long a favorite, the restaurant took on an even greater importance when Jessica was hospitalized with an autoimmune disease. Jessica says that Whataburger was the only thing she was able to eat. So Jessica's bridesmaids wore orange Whataburger sunglasses and Adrian carried an orange and white beverage tumbler.

The burger chain also highlighted couples who made Whataburger their first stop after the ceremony, but social media has caught other couples celebrating their happily-ever-after at the chain.

A photo of Rebekah and Tim Muenzler, who had their first meeting at a San Antonio Whataburger, celebrating post-ceremony went viral when some local teens grabbing a bite after their homecoming dance noticed the couple in formal wear.

If you want to plan your own Whataburger wedding, the chain stands ready to help. Food trucks may be the latest wedding trend, but nothing beats waiters carrying trays of Whataburger Taquitos and the restaurant's signature Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits in for late-night snacks post-dancing.

"We have very loyal customers who love Whataburger. We've been part of their lives; they've celebrated milestones and life moments at our restaurants," Karina Alderete, Whataburger's director of brand experience, told the Houston Chronicle. "Weddings are a natural extension, though to see that Whataburger makes the invitation list — it's a complete honor."

Other couples have given their out-of-town wedding guests Whataburger gift cards to use during their stay or orange and white swag as a wedding favor.
