Country artist Willie Jones has released a new remix of his love song "Down For It," which has accumulated more than 7 million streams on Spotify.
Produced by Lamar "MyGuyMars" Edwards (Drake, Mac Miller, Jay-Z), the remix features Atlanta rapper T.I..
"When the original 'Down For It' dropped, it was no doubt that it was inspired by not only my love for love itself but one of the best rappers out the south, T.I. We included a few lines from 'Whatever You Like' when we performed it all over the world and the fans would go crazy during that part," Jones said in a press release. "We reached out to Tip and he said he'd jump on my remix. This new remix gives the song a whole new vibe and to have a legend on it, man."
Jones released the original version of "Down For It" in 2019, along with a music video that paid tribute to the television classic Reading Rainbow.
"'Down For It' was created [in 2019] between writing sessions in Nashville and Los Angeles," Jones told Wide Open Country last year. "You can hear the inspirations from both cities. Melodically, the song brought back memories of growing up in the '90s and I saw images of shows like 'Reading Rainbow' in my head. When it was time to make the video, I thought that paying homage to that show would be something cool and different. For those who remember, it should bring a smile to their face."
Jones has his own Apple Music show called "The Cross Roads radio" and is slated for Stagecoach 2021 and C2C London, Berlin, Amsterdam and Glasgow.

In 2012, the Shreveport, Louisiana-raised singer appeared as a contestant on The X Factor USA, where he wowed Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato and Britney Spears with his cover of Josh Turner's "Your Man." (He was later mentored on the show by Demi Lovato.)
The country singer previously joined Cameron Dallas and Shawn Mendes on the Magcon Tour and appeared as part of Cameron Dallas' Netflix show Chasing Cameron.
In addition to "Down For It," Jones has released "Bachelorettes on Broadway," "Windows Down," "Whole Lotta Love," "Runs in Our Blood" and "Back Porch."
"Willie is writing mature songs but with vernacular that's accessible to kids right now," Nashville songwriter Jimmy Robbins, who's written with Maren Morris, Miranda Lambert and more, told Rolling Stone in 2019. "The way he speaks is very current. There's a freeform, in-the-moment thought process that happens with him, but he's never sacrificing what we love in Nashville, which is the craft of songwriting."
The "Down For It" remix will be featured on Jones' forthcoming debut album, due in early 2021.
