For many country stars with busy touring schedules, the annual CMA Awards show and other industry events are like old home week: a time to reconnect with friends in Nashville. This was true for 86-year-old road warrior Willie Nelson because of more than just his chance to cover "Rainbow Connection" with duet partner Kacey Musgraves. He also spent a little time with fellow country music icon Loretta Lynn.

"I had the best time at CMA Country Music Association Awards last night," Lynn wrote on Instagram. "It was so good to see so many of my friends. I loved catching up with my buddy Willie Nelson!"
Lynn also shared photos of her hanging out backstage with Reba McEntire and Pink.
Lynn has been synonymous with the CMA Awards since winning its first-ever Female Artist of the Year award in 1967. In 1972, she became the first woman to win the evening's top prize, Entertainer of the Year.
The Red Headed Stranger is no stranger to the red carpet or main stage, either: he's the 1979 Entertainer of the Year and a multi-time CMA co-host.
Lynn's attendance added to a night that celebrated past contributions of women in country music, signified by Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire's selections as Carrie Underwood's special guest hosts.
