Willie Nelson to Honor Frank Sinatra With New Album, 'My Way'

Although Nelson and Sinatra may not seem like the most conventional duet partners, the two shared a long-lasting friendship. (You can see their rapport in this public service announcement for NASA's Space Foundation.) The Red Headed Stranger also famously opened for Sinatra during his 1987 show at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas. A digitally-engineered duet version of "My Way" featuring Nelson and Sinatra was also included as a bonus track on the 2013 Duets: 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition box set. Nelson also famously recorded Sinatra's hit song "Stardust" as the title track of his iconic 1978 cover album of pop, country and jazz standards.

In a recent interview with AARP Magazine, Nelson noted that he learned from Sinatra's vocal phrasing, and noted that he always "sang it like he felt it."

The project follows up Nelson's 2018 release Last Man Standing, which was produced by Buddy Cannon. The country music icon has released multiple cover albums through his long career. In 2016 alone, he released Summertime: Willie Nelson Sings Gershwin and For The Good Times: A Tribute to Ray Price.
