Before performing on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Willie Nelson invited the talk show host onto his tour bus to talk about his fear of barbershops, support of Beto O'Rourke, Frank Sinatra and which celebrities he'd like to get high with.
Colbert started off by asking Nelson about the unique scent on his bus, prompting Nelson to offer Colbert his own strain of Willie's Reserve product, "Colbert Lavender."
The men discussed Willie's evolution of style from a clean cut Nashville songwriter to his long-haired hippie persona as well as his upcoming free public concert in support of Texas Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke. Nelson noted that it's not the first time he's backed a political candidate, from Ross Perot and Dennis Kucinich all the way back to Tex Ritter, the country singer and actor who ran for Senate in 1970.
When asked if he gets upset by people boycotting his music in response to his support of the candidate, Nelson responded "No not really. It's their prerogative. I might not like their music either, you know, so I don't hold any grudges against people."

Nelson also discussed his new album of Frank Sinatra covers, his admiration for Sinatra and his friendship with the late singer.
"He's my favorite singer and I read somewhere a couple years ago that I was his favorite singer," Nelson said.
Colbert played a clip from an old PSA for the Space Foundation featuring Sinatra and Nelson, leading Colbert to ask if the Red Headed Stranger would ever want to go to space.
"I've been there," Nelson quipped.
The highlight of the interview, however, comes at the end when Colbert asks the country legend which celebrities he'd like to smoke with. Shown a series of photos of celebrities, including Snoop Dogg, Pope Francis, Meryl Streep and cellist Yo-Yo Ma, Nelson responded with an enthusiastic yes. When presented with a photo of Vladimir Putin and President Donald Trump, Nelson responded that some of the Willie's Reserve stock might even do them some good.
"I know several people I'd like to say take a hit, so to speak," Nelson joked.
Nelson released his sixty-eighth studio album, My Way, on Sept. 14. The tireless performer is currently on the road with his Outlaw Music Festival Tour. On Sept. 22, Nelson will perform at Farm Aid along with Kacey Musgraves, Margo Price, Chris Stapleton, Neil Young, Sturgill Simpson, Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real and more.
