The Country Catwalk: Winter Fashion Trends You Can Actually Wear

Winter fashion trends are hot now that temperatures are not, and this season it's all about staying warm while looking stylish. There's a new statement coat in town and a new style of boots will replace your old thigh highs. We also saw leather, fur and nude neutrals all make their mark on runways for winter. Now, we're helping you make these styles real-life ready.

Over-the-Knee Boots

Over-the-knee boots are all the rage this winter and they are very versatile. If you're looking to pull this in to your day-to-day look, opt for a lighter colored boot like Dallas blogger Anna Dille Cobbs. A small heel (or even a flat) will make them comfy and casual for a day or evening look.

Camel Colored Coats

The new year has also brought a new fashion staple: the camel coat. You can throw it on with your favorite jeans and tee. It'll even go with your well-worn cowboy boots. No matter the occasion, you'll make a statement in this winter fashion look.

Leather Leggings

Leather leggings have been trendy for a while but they can be tricky to style. For day wear, try them with your favorite oversized vintage tee (you know, that 1990s Reba McEntire shirt you've been wanting an excuse to wear). At night, take a page from style blogger Kate Blue's book and choose a dressier tunic with boots.

Faux Fur Vest

When you think of faux fur, you may think of oversized (and maybe even obnoxious) but that doesn't have to be the case. Faux fur is growing in popularity and it's easier than ever to find the perfect one for you. Ease yourself in to the look with a thin fur vest over something casual (even plaid!) and your look will go from bleak to chic.

Military Inspired Jackets

Military jackets showed up on runways last fall and now they're getting a lot of real-life wear. It's not about camo colors, but instead strong shouldered jackets with gold buttons. They look great with dark or colored denim. Texas style blogger Courtney Kerr has mastered this look on her blog, KERRently.

Booties

Ditch the thigh high boots in milder temperatures and instead purchase a pair of ankle booties. They are so popular right now, and you can find them in almost any color and style. Even Toms has designed a line of booties that are cute and, more importantly, comfortable! This is one shoe that will outlast the winter fashion trend.

Leather Fringed Jackets

Ditch the old leather jacket this winter and try a new style. Find a leather (or pleather) jacket with fringe accents to keep you warm. Wear them with jeans or dresses for a look that's a little bit country and a little bit rock 'n roll.
