Zoe Saldaña is a powerhouse actress who's been in the acting scene since 2003. Though she is an accomplished actress, it was actually ballet that drew her into the acting world. After her father died when she was nine, Saldaña and her family moved back to the Dominican Republic, where her mom signed her up for ballet classes. Her ballet skills help her land her first major film role as ballet dancer Eva in Center Stage. Since her debut in 2001, she's acted in dozens of films and TV shows and has expanded her credits to include producing and writing.

She has become a bit synonymous with sci-fi action flicks, as she's appeared in the Star Trek remake, the ongoing Avatar series, and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. She grew up enjoying the genre, saying, "I'm very proud to say I am a geek. But I'm kind of a cool geek. I grew up in a very sci-fi home, so I've seen a lot of sci-fi movies..." Many of the roles Saldaña accepts are strong female characters. In an interview with Honey and Lime, she reflected on movies from her childhood and how there wasn't a focus on female protagonists.
When it comes to female roles, she said, "We don't write women accurately...When you see a real woman, you shouldn't be saying she's strong, you should be saying she's real."
Maybe it's that mindset that attracted her to working with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. The actor-turned-TV genius has been continuously praised for his portrayal of strong female characters in Yellowstone and its prequels. His latest series, Special Ops: Lioness is even centered on women in the CIA. Saldaña stars alongside Oscar winner Nicole Kidman and Hallmark darling Jill Wagner as three powerhouse females working covert ops in the military.
Even though her roles have varied over the years, Saldaña is showing no signs of slowing down. Outside of Special Ops: Lioness, she is slated to reprise her role in Avatar for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th movies, as well as additional film roles.
With so many film credits to her name, here are the 12 best Zoe Saldaña movies.
